Stop Complaining

“These things happened as a warning to us, so that we would not crave evil things as they did, or worship idols as some of them did. As the Scriptures say, “The people celebrated with feasting and drinking, and they indulged in pagan revelry.” And we must not engage in sexual immorality as some of them did, causing 23,000 of them to die in one day. Nor should we put Christ to the test, as some of them did and then died from snakebites. And don’t grumble as some of them did, and then were destroyed by the angel of death. These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭6‬-‭11‬)

From this passage we see five sins that kept Israel from its destiny:

1. Desiring evil things
2. Worshipping idols
3. Sexual Immorality
4. Testing God
5. Complaining

Scripture says, “…Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good.” (Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭9). Now one of the biggest things I encounter today in both believers and unbelievers is complaining, and as you can see Jesus takes it very serious! Not dislikes, or tolerates, He hates it! Are you a complainer? Not content with what the Lord has given you. Always looking at what others have that you don’t and allowing jealousy to stir in your heart? Casting blame on the Lord? These are not of Jesus, nor should they be in our lives.

“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have…” (Hebrews‬ ‭13‬:‭5‬)

“Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.” (1 Timothy‬ ‭6‬:‭6‬-‭10‬)

Allow the Holy Spirit to truly search your heart and if He highlights any complaining be quick to repent and come into alignment with the Word!
