“And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.” (Acts 5:32)
Read that slowly, who is the Holy Spirit given to? In the Greek this reads “to those who hear and obey Him.” See the word “believe” in English and today’s world is far weaker that what it’s defined as in the original language. People say they believe in aliens, unicorns, leprechauns, etc. in fact many of the same say they believe in Jesus. So there is something quite loose in their belief system…
Ezekiel 36:27 is pretty clear, “I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.” Do you see the work of the Holy Spirit? To bring obedience!
Jesus is the perfect picture of obedience to the Father, and we are to be like Him, so if obedience does not mark our life, then something is way off!
“He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.” (1 John 2:6)
Delayed obedience is still disobedience!
