Manna- 6/2/24

Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business;” (Acts‬ ‭6‬:‭3‬)

Notice the requirements the early church put forth to those who would be serving tables and handling the daily distribution? Take a look in most churches today, do leaders look for the same in those they allow to serve in various duties? Sadly, many are given duties who are not even born again…

Once again it says of Steven, “…a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit… (v. 5), “And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.” (v. 8). So why did the early church put such an emphasis on this? Keep reading through chapter 6 and you’ll see why!

This brought persecution and false accusation against him, and scripture says “And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.” (Acts‬ ‭6‬:‭10‬), and what else manifested in his life in response to the persecution?

And all who sat in the council, looking steadfastly at him, saw his face as the face of an angel.” (Acts‬ ‭6‬:‭15‬)

Even something as simple as serving tables, etc carries a call to be Christlike and allow the Lord Jesus to shine forth!

Beloved, what shows forth in our life when we are opposed and falsely accused???
