MRE- Acts 8:20

Acts 8:20 (NLT)
“But Peter replied, "May your money be destroyed with you for thinking God's gift can be bought!”

Here we see the beginning of Peter's rebuke to Simon, who thought he could purchase the power of the laying on of hands. We must fully understand that all that the Lord gives are gifts. They cannot be earned nor bought.

He is a good Father, and the giver of good gifts.

James 1:17 (NLT)
“Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.”

As we touched on yesterday, it is about having pure motives from which we should seek the best gifts.

Matthew 5:8 (NLT)
“God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God.”

1 Corinthians 14:1 (NLT)
“Let love be your highest goal! But you should also desire the special abilities the Spirit gives-especially the ability to prophesy.”

Many seem to get caught in a works mentality, not seeing it’s a tactic of the enemy. Telling themselves maybe if I do more outreach, more this or that the Lord will give me more gifts to use. That’s not how it works!

Scripture is clear there is only one work

John 6:29 (NLT)
“Jesus told them, "This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent."

Those in a genuine relationship with Jesus, growing in intimacy and the knowledge of Him will have no shortage of the Gifts of the Spirit!

Motives will be pure when your heart and your eyes are set upon the King of Glory!

Blessings in Jesus Name!!!
