Jeremiah 8:4 (NKJV)
"Moreover you shall say to them, 'Thus says the LORD: "Will they fall and not rise? Will one turn away and not return?”

Let’s continue reading through verse seven to get a better contextual understanding of what the word is saying here.

Jeremiah 8:5-7 (NKJV)
Why has this people slidden back, Jerusalem, in a perpetual backsliding? They hold fast to deceit, They refuse to return. I listened and heard, But they do not speak aright. No man repented of his wickedness, Saying, 'What have I done?' Everyone turned to his own course, As the horse rushes into the battle. "Even the stork in the heavens Knows her appointed times; And the turtledove, the swift, and the swallow Observe the time of their coming. But My people do not know the judgment of the LORD.”

This verse begins where the Lord is speaking to the prophet Jeremiah about Judah's continual state of backsliding. By comparison the Lord is saying when someone falls, don’t they get back up, or when they realize they’re on the wrong road won’t they turn around. Yet Judah isn’t doing either such things! They were continuing on in their sin with no signs of repentance.

Given to their pride they continue down the same path of deception like a horse going to battle. The Lord then says even the birds know the seasons and when they must return, yet backsliding Judah doesn’t. They don’t even recognize God’s judgements, and they’re basically dumber than tiny brained birds…

Charles Spurgeon preached a sermon titled, Migratory Birds. He began, “We shall mark these migratory birds, and set the wisdom of their instinct in contrast with the folly of mankind.” In his message he made four points:

· The migratory birds know when to come and go.

· The migratory birds know where to go.

· The migratory birds, by some strange instinct, also know the way to go.

· The migratory birds show their wisdom by actually going to the sunny land.

Sadly, even God’s people today do not know the seasons or His judgments. He comes first to His house, separating His people, purifying, and preparing them for what’s to come, when He begins to release judgment upon the evil and wickedness that has been operating far too long.

1 Peter 4:17-18 (NKJV)
“For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? Now "If the righteous one is scarcely saved, Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?"

Friends stay tender before the Lord, allow Him to purify you, separate from what He’s telling you to get away from, and stay pressed into the Lord Jesus!!!

Blessings in Jesus Name!!!
