MRE- Luke 8:5

Luke 8:5 (NKJV)
"A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it.”

The parable of the farmer sowing seed is one of my favorites. It’s is also found in Matthew 13, and Mark 4. As we see all through the Word of God it will interpret itself. So let’s dig in.

What is the seed?
Luke 8:11 (NKJV)
"…The seed is the word of God."

What is the wayside and the birds?
Luke 8:12 (NKJV)
"Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved."

This parable is one where Jesus quickly explains what He is referring to just a few verses later. This is one many use early in someone’s walk with the Lord to teach them to search the Word to find the interpretation. As you mature your searching of the scripture will go deeper and deeper. Don’t give up it all always interpret itself and through seeking and prayer the Holy Spirit will always teach you!

Now, even though Jesus doesn't explicitly say, it should be understood who the sower is. It is Jesus Himself here. So does that mean that sowing has ended since His death, burial and resurrection? Not at all! Just like everything in the Kingdom it has now been multiplied!

Paul says in Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me…” and in 1 Cor 3:6 we see “I (Paul) planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.”

Jesus tells us in John 14 that anyone who believes in Him will do same works He has done and even greater. How is that possible? Jesus continues in John 14 to tell about the Holy Spirit! During Jesus earthly ministry His teachings, healings and miracles were limited to where He was. Now those things are multiplied and should be evident in the lives of all of those who are in Christ!

Thank you Father for Your Holy Spirit!

Blessings in Jesus Mighty Name!!!
