Romans 8:11 (NKJV)
“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”
Jesus was resurrected by the power of the Holy Spirit, and is alive forevermore. All those who have been born again, will in like manner be raised from the dead, not just spiritually, but physically, for the Holy Spirit will give life to our mortal bodies at the resurrection of the dead. He is currently indwelling our bodies and empowering our lives currently, and for those who pass on before Jesus returns He will raise up at His coming. Those alive at that time will be transformed in the twinkling of an eye!
Our current body is simply a tent in which to house our immortal spirit and eternal soul, and as part of the old creation in Adam, they remain subject to death.
2 Corinthians 5:1 (NKJV)
“For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”
However the wonderful truth in this verse is that we have hope in Jesus! For the same Spirit which raised Him from the dead will also raise us up, spirit, soul, and body.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NKJV)
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
We are a new creation in Christ, such that His death becomes our death and His Resurrection becomes our resurrection, for we are united with Him eternally, and have become one in Spirit with Him.
Complete redemption has a number of elements - past, present, and future; spirit, soul, and body; justified, sanctified, and glorified; positional salvation, practical salvation, and perfected salvation. And is it ours by grace, through faith in Christ!
Trust Jesus, give Him your all!
