Word Received 5/8/24

Our surrounding area was impacted by a large destructive tornado Monday evening. Bless the Lord for His protection! All day and into this morning I’ve been in both great thankfulness and burdened.

Sitting with Jesus this morning and He has me reflecting on what He showed last night and felt led to share.

As we drove into town last night for prayer we saw HUGE tree after tree completely uprooted, and the majority had one thing in common, no roots! They were not grown with any real test of the wind, so when the wind came they fell!

I was quickened with the parable of the sower found in Mark chapter 4, and these specific verses.

“But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no ROOT it withered away. These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness; and they have no ROOT in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word’s sake, immediately they stumble.”(Mark‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬, ‭16‬-‭17‬)

Jesus also teaches of two foundations at the end of Luke chapter 6, after teaching on fruit bearing trees. What’s the foundation of trees? Their roots!

A trees root system isn’t visible, not even in the bearing of leaves, and fruits. Some will continue bearing year after year, and grow to appear big, strong and mighty! Yet the foundation is only evident when the storm comes, and if it falls the evidence is now before all to see!

“that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being ROOTED and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬-‭19‬)

“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, ROOTED and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.” (Colossians‬ ‭2‬:‭6‬-‭7‬)

Jesus gives the answer on how the two foundations (roots) are built (grown) in Luke chapter 6. So the question we must all ask the Holy Spirit is, “which of these two builders am I?”
