MRE- Acts 8:16

Posted by Iron Sharp on

Acts 8:16 (NLT)“The Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, for they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.”Today's verse is the one we pulled in yesterday to help add clarity to what is being said in this portion of the scripture. As I mentioned yesterday we can see the same pattern later in the Book of Acts. After Paul had his encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus, Ananias was sent to him to lay hands on him.Acts 9:17 (NLT)“So Ananias went and found Saul. He laid his hands on him and...

Acts 8:15 (NLT)“As soon as they arrived, they prayed for these new believers to receive the Holy Spirit.”Today's verse is another verse that clearly shows that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a separate encounter apart from the New Birth. Note this verse says the believers had yet to receive the Holy Spirit, but I thought when a person is born again the Holy Spirit comes to dwell inside them? Acts 8:14 (NLT)“When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that the people of Samaria had accepted God's message, they sent Peter and John there.”We need to go back to verse four and read through verse 25 to get the full context, then over the next ten days we are going to look into each verse one by one.Acts 8:4-25 (NLT)“But the believers who were scattered preached the Good News about Jesus wherever they went. Philip, for example, went to the city of Samaria and told the people there about the Messiah. Crowds listened intently to Philip because they were eager to...

Matthew 8:13 (NKJV)“Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you." And his servant was healed that same hour.”Today's verse is one where we need to back up some verses and get the full context of what Jesus is teaching.Matthew 8:5-13 (NKJV)“Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, saying, "Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented." And Jesus said to him, "I will come and heal him." The centurion answered and said, "Lord, I am not worthy that...

MRE- John 8:12

John 8:12 (NKJV)“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."Seven times in the gospel of John, Jesus makes a powerful statement beginning with the phrase "I am." John 6:35 (NKJV)- “And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst” John 8:12 (NKJV)- “Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me...
