MRE- Luke 8:6

Posted by Iron Sharp on

Luke 8:6 (NKJV)“Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture.”As we saw in yesterday's MRE, the first ground that the sower encountered was the hardened ground, where the birds came and took the seed away. So what does scripture tell us about the second soil we just read about?Luke 8:13 (NKJV)“But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away.”I like how The Passion Translation gives...

Luke 8:5 (NKJV)"A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it.”The parable of the farmer sowing seed is one of my favorites. It’s is also found in Matthew 13, and Mark 4. As we see all through the Word of God it will interpret itself. So let’s dig in. Jeremiah 8:5-7 (NKJV)Why has this people slidden back, Jerusalem, in a perpetual backsliding? They hold fast to deceit, They refuse to return. I listened and heard, But they do not speak aright. No man repented of his wickedness, Saying, 'What have I done?' Everyone turned to his own course, As the horse rushes into the battle. "Even...

Romans 8:3 (AMP)“For what the Law could not do [that is, overcome sin and remove its penalty, its power] being weakened by the flesh [man's nature without the Holy Spirit], God did: He sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful man as an offering for sin. And He condemned sin in the flesh [subdued it and overcame it in the person of His own Son],”Friends this verse is good news! Jesus came and did what no human could ever do, He fulfilled the Law of Moses!Matthew 5:17“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the...

MRE- 1 Corinthians 8:2

1 Corinthians 8:2 (NKJV)“And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.” 1 Corinthians 8:2 (TPT)“If anyone thinks of himself as a know-it-all, he still has a lot to learn.” In the context of chapter 8 Paul is addressing a question the church of Corinth had about eating food sacrificed to idols. It appears from his words in verse 1 that the church may have a puffed up prideful knowledge on the subject. Paul uses two different Greek words for “know” here. Where Paul says “and if anyone thinks that he knows...
