“After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.” (John‬ ‭13‬:‭5‬) Although many people take this to be a literal act and will set up foot washing outreaches as a means to follow what Jesus did. Now, if the Lord tells you to do this, then yes you must obey, but is this what Jesus is truly revealing? What Jesus is doing here is a part of the new meal He institutes and calls us to do often in remembrance of Him...

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.” (John‬ ‭12‬:‭24‬) The first grain here is the Lord Jesus. This is just days before His crucifixion, and He will die and go into the tomb, and when He resurrects He will produce much grain after Himself by sending the Holy Spirit. “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.” (‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭3‬) Selfish ambition can be defined as the desire to do something that focuses on one's own wants and desires, rather than what Jesus desires, or the needs of others.  John chapter 7 gives a picture of this and I believe something that has been happening amongst the church for many decades, and must be guarded against. “Now the annual Feast of Tabernacles was approaching. So Jesus’ brothers came to advise him, saying, “Why don’t you leave the countryside...

‪“Jesus said to him, “Stand up! Pick up your sleeping mat and you will walk!” Immediately he stood up—he was healed! So he rolled up his mat and walked again! Now Jesus worked this miracle on the Sabbath. When the Jewish leaders saw the man walking along carrying his sleeping mat, they objected and said, “What are you doing carrying that? Don’t you know it’s the Sabbath? It’s not lawful for you to carry things on the Sabbath!” He answered them, “The man who healed me told me to pick it up and walk.” “What man?” they asked him. “Who...

“Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water.” (John‬ ‭5‬:‭2‬-‭3‬) What we see here is the sick were under the covering of five porches. This is a picture of all those who were under the cover of the Law (the five books of the Torah). Scripture is clear that the Law cannot heal.  “But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For...
