“After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.” (‭‭Acts‬ ‭4‬:‭31‬) ‭ The word boldness is the Greek word “parresia”. This involves more than confidence; it was a free-flowing, unrestrained boldness. It can also mean "freedom of speech." Parresia carries nuances that are not easily brought over into English. The person who speaks with parresia will say everything that is on his mind with no restraint, flowing out of his heart with confidence. It involves being frank and honest, hiding nothing and speaking directly...

“The council members were astonished as they witnessed the bold courage of Peter and John, especially when they discovered that they were just ordinary men who had never had religious training. Then they began to understand the effect Jesus had on them simply by spending time with Him.” (Acts‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬) Chasing knowledge of the scripture apart from spending time with the author only births religious people. This is a massive verse that fueled a fire in my heart where intimately knowing Jesus is the greatest pursuit! When first love is the genuine desire there will be no shortage of understanding...

“Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea.” (John‬ ‭21‬:‭7‬) Here we see seven disciples go back to what they once did. This was after Jesus commanded them to remain in Jerusalem until they were clothed with power (Luke 24:49)… They fished through the night and caught nothing, as they were doing what they wanted to do in their own strength, Jesus was not with them… Jesus then shows...

“Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple, and were going to the tomb. So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first.” (John‬ ‭20‬:‭3‬-‭4‬) What can we see in these verses? John, the beloved disciple outrunning Peter to the tomb, hmmm??? Love always outruns curiosity! Some are just curious about Jesus, and it’s not until they grasp the reality of His first love for them that they will begin to reciprocate real love back to Him! “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves...

“Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.” (John‬ ‭18‬:‭10‬) A few things can be seen in this event. 1. Peter physically attacking the high priests servant carried a punishment of death. So Jesus takes away every bit of evidence that could be used against Peter and remains in his place. The innocent for the guilty! 2. The word sword here is used in Eph. 6:17 as well as Heb. 4:12. Showing us that the very sword that is designed to impact people’s...
